Wildlife Monitoring, South Cordelia Reservoir, Solano County
Project Manager: Jack Barclay
Date: 2002 - 2003
Albion provided biological services for the proposed construction of South Cordelia Water Reservoir. Prior to the start of construction Albion wildlife biologists conducted burrowing owl surveys on the project site and prepared a burrowing owl mitigation plan. This project was located near known California red-legged frog breeding habitat and required daily California red-legged frog preconstruction surveys, regular environmental fence monitoring surveys for other special-status wildlife species within the project vicinity. Albion biologists were approved by the USFWS as biological monitors for the construction phase of this five million gallon underground water tank.
Albion biologists implemented and monitored the wildlife exclusionary fencing around the project boundary and were compliance monitors for the special-status species take avoidance measures described in the Resource Protection Management Plan. Monitors conducted environmental training classes to outline project conditions including environmental regulations, species identification, and natural history.
