Jennifer Farquhar is a highly qualified field archaeologist and lithic analyst, with over 17 years experience. She has extensive experience in California's central and south-central coast areas, the southern Sierra Nevada, the San Joaquin Valley, the Great Basin, Mexico, and Belize.
Since joining Albion in 1998, Ms. Farquhar has supervised a range of cultural resource management projects ranging from small-scale CEQA compliance consultations to developing testing and mitigation plans for federally funded projects. Ms. Farquhar is trained and experienced in implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. She has served as Project Manager, Field Director, and Laboratory Director for numerous projects at Fort Hunter Liggett Military Installation in Monterey County, Camp Roberts Army National Guard Training Installation in San Luis Obispo County, and Twenty-nine Palms Marine Corps Base in San Bernardino County. Jennifer also serves as Albion's laboratory specialist.
Ms. Farquhar was awarded a M.A. in Anthropology from California State University, Sacramento in 2003. Her thesis research examined the relationship between flaked stone tool technology and prehistoric settlement mobility, focusing on artifacts from Diablo Canyon in San Luis Obispo County and Point Sal in northern Santa Barbara County.
Jennifer's recent assignments include:
- Project Manager for Master Services Agreement (MSA) with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). To date, Albion has completed or is in the process of completing twelve separate task orders including cultural resources inventories, archaeological testing, consultation with Native Americans, and construction monitoring.
- Project Manager and archaeologist for the Bay Street Reservoir System Transmission Improvement Project for the City of Santa Cruz Water Department. The project is located in areas considered highly sensitive for prehistoric and historic-era archaeological resources, including the Mission Hill Historic District. Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2006.
- Project Manager, Co-Field Director, Laboratory Director, and Lithic Analyst for archaeological test excavations at Camp Roberts National Guard Training Base, Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties, California. She co-authored report with Tom Garlinghouse.
- Co-Field Director for Los Osos Wastewater Facilities Project, San Luis Obispo County, California. In conjunction with Far Western Anthropological Research Group, conducted archaeological test excavations and data recovery at several sites located in the Los Osos/Baywood Park vicinity.
