He has worked primarily in California, but he has also completed projects in Nevada and in the Southeast. He has authored a number of reports involving inventories of architectural resources, evaluations, National Register nominations, Historic American Building Surveys, and preservation plans. Monte holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of California at Santa Barbara (2005), a M.A. in Public History from California State University Sacramento (1999), and a B.A. in History from the University of California at Santa Cruz (1996).
