Cher Peterson has been trained in all aspects of archaeological laboratory work, and has participated in major test excavations. Ms. Peterson is experienced in analysis of historic cultural materials, report writing, and in database management. Her recent projects include codirecting a test excavation for a future building site at Santa Clara University, where she serves as a field archaeologist and prepares field work summaries.

Ms. Peterson has worked on projects throughout California, particularly on the Central Coast and in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has undertaken a variety of roles including Field Laboratory Director, excavator, monitor, and surveyor. Ms. Peterson has participated in projects conducted under the guidelines and regulations of the National Environmental Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and the California Environmental Quality Act.

Ms. Peterson received certification as an Archaeological Technician at Cabrillo College in 1999, and an Associate of Science degree from Cabrillo College in 2000. She received her B.A. in archaeology at UC Santa Cruz in 2004. Cher is also an accomplished singer and drummer. Check out her band, Jazz Birds, a charming quartet with their own hot and sweet style of original vocal arrangements of classic songs from the jazz era.
